As I walked down Fairhope Avenue the other day, I saw the cutest little dresses hanging outside of what looked like the barber shop! I knew that couldn’t be true…Ken and Vern haven’t started selling dresses, right?
So as I got a little closer, I see that indeed there is a shop there, next to the Pub! Ducking inside, I found myself inside the most eclectic dress shop/art gallery I’ve ever seen. Truly, it could just as easily be called Tallulah’s Art Gallery or Tallulah’s Boutique, because Trish has done an incredible job building this little store with quirky items that just make you smile.
Tallulah’s Gallery is Fairhope’s newest and funkiest boutique. As you can see, she has beautiful pieces of art and sculpture (one of her best sellers is something called a hand cross). It’s hand made and fits in the palm of your hand. It makes a beautiful gift for the
religious person in your life, or someone who may just need a little reassurance that God is with them.
I did say that Tallulah’s was a boutique though, and it’s definitely the place to go if you are looking for the perfect funky colorful top or dress. This hot little number to the right is just a sample of what you’ll find at Tallulah’s!
Tallulah’s proudly supports over 20 local and regional artists and artisans. That’s one of the things I think is so important about this series that Coupons Make Cents is doing — it’s all about shopping locally and supporting your local folks.
One of the great things about supporting local and regional artisans is that you know you will get a one-of-a-kind piece, and the accessories and art at Tallulah’s do not disappoint. Look at these beautiful earrings! I bought a pair of the copper ones and no-they aren’t just like the ones in the picture. They are hand-hammered and shaped, and hand-beaded.
When you go into Tallulah’s, ask her about the Swavorski pendants. They’re from another one of her regional artisans, and I bought one for my mother-in-law for Mother’s Day. Absolutely stunning, and like nothing else I’ve ever seen.
Honestly, whether you’re looking for an original piece of art, a funky dress, handmade custom jewelry (that won’t break the bank!) or something just bursting with personality, Tallulah’s has you covered.
My Experience:
I told you about what I bought, but I didn’t tell you about what I saw while I was there. Soon after I walked in, a young lady came in who was having trouble with a dress she had purchased from Tallulah’s. She was unhappy with the style of the dress, and despite the fact that she actually had worn the dress out of the store, Trish just told her to find something else she liked and she’d be glad to make the exchange. Many retailers would have said, “I’m sorry, ma’am, you’ve worn this garment”, but not Trish. Her customers’ happiness is more important to her, and she made a happy customer out of that young lady in less than five minutes. That’s just Trish’s way of doing business. That’s when I knew I needed to feature Tallulah’s on Fairhope’s Finest. Trish deserves your business, and I know if you venture into her store, you’ll find a goody or two that you just have to have. And at her prices, you’ll be able to afford to treat yourself!
Look for Tallulah’s next to the Pub at 315 Fairhope Avenue. She’s open from 10-5 Monday-Saturday. Anytime you go in, if you mention that you saw this on Coupons Make Cents or you can pull it up on your phone, she will have a FREE GIFT! for you! I know what it is and I PROMISE, you’ll love it! Find Tallulah’s on Facebook for exclusive discounts and pictures of all the new shipments! If you think your friends would love Tallulah’s, click the Share or the Twitter button below and share Trish’s creations with them. They’ll be happy you did!
