Wouldn’t we all love to be a few pounds lighter? Or if not a few pounds lighter, at least a little bit healthier? I know I would - but I might have to give up some things I love to get there. When MyBlogSpark told me about Hershey’s new Moderation Nation it sounded like something I wanted to check out, especially because it has an iPhone app.
The free app, Activity Break, helps you take three 10 minute “activity snacks” per day. I love that the activities listed including some regular exercise type things, but also fun stuff like snowman building, playing tag, and walking the dog. You can schedule reminders at times you want, or have the app surprise you with random times throughout the week.
On The Moderation Nation site, TheModerationNation.com, there is even more help including recipes and expert tips for Cheryl Forberg, registered dietitian for NBC’s The Biggest Loser. There are menu plans that include snack ideas, a balance the meal tool that you input your main dish and it offers up healthy side dishes, and useful facts about portions, grocery shopping, and hot to start a food journal.
One thing I was thinking, though, is isn’t it weird that Hershey, of all companies, is trying to make something that focuses on healthy living?
There are lots of companies taking similar actions though lately and I personally think that at least some of the message is starting to get to us and in our heads. We need to pay more attention to what we eat, how much of it we eat, and how active (or inactive) we are - we need to get moving. I think that Moderation Nation is going to help some of us get that a bit more. Let’s face it, many of us just aren’t willing to give up thinks like Hershey candy, so at least this is a start.
Now on to the good part - the GIVEAWAY!
What do I get? One lucky reader will win the Moderation Nation Prize Pack show above which includes a package of Hershey’s candy, a t-shirt, and a journal.
