I get asked all the time how in the world I know all this stuff. It’s not like there were books way back 7 or 8 years ago to read and learn about couponing. The internet was somewhat rudimentary, and there were no classes to attend (I hadn’t started teaching yet! LOL)
But there was one small website where a few ladies got together in something called the grocery forum and began trading coupons. We’d post our wishlists, and whatever one had that the other needed, we sent right away.
Well, business decisions were made, and to be honest, we hardcore couponers were small in number in those days, so it was determined that we were not a profitable part of the board, and we needed to find a new home. We tumbled along, sort of the red-headed stepchild, until two of the ladies decided to form their own website for couponers, by couponers.
Hot Coupon World was born. We initially had only a few hundred members, but today my friends the owners can boast a membership of well over 250,000 couponing folks across the world. (I only wish I’d gotten in on the money side of this thing when they were starting up! LOL)
Today, in addition to being a founding member, I am a super moderator and a freelance contributor.
I have called on those founding folks more than once as so much more than couponers — we are friends and consider ourselves family.
